Hey, my series iii started up as normal this morning, but out after about 15 seconds and wouldnt restart.
Called AA out, who diagnosed that there was no pulse n the negative side of the coil. He reckons the points and condensor need changing - but he couldnt do it.
Does that sound right? Is it easy to do - or how much should I expect my local garage to charge for it??
Cheers

it duz sound reasonable - except i am amazed that an AA guy cant change the points and condensor. Its a job that you can do in about 10 minutes and cost - about a fiver.

before yer start chaging them , take a minute to check the points gap and condition of em. it might be that they have closed up do to wear on the heel, which is normal.
if the faces look ok then just adjust em if the faces are a bit pitted you can file em down flat and then adjust em. but in the real world you'd just put new ones in. unless yer out in the jungle somewhere.

so to recap check and adjust. if the faces are pitted then renew. and put a new condensor in at the same time
