Hi, I'm couldn't find a topic on this. Basically I turn the key as normal to start my diesel L332 and it does nothing. The AA man manually put power to the starter and it fired up and I drove away. He said there's and open circuit to to starter as everything else is fine.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Did Mr AA make a suggestion?
 
AA man didn't suggest anything other than an open circuit from the ignition to the starter.

I've had the laptop fault machine plugged in and there are zero faults.

It started this morning with about 10 turns of the key and then started first time when it was having the fault machine put to it.

Now it won't start again.

Sounds like little more than a loose or failed connection in the ignition circuit as the engine, ECUs and starter all sound OK. I had this on a boat engine once and it was just a wire had fallen out of the remote control. Have a look in RAVE and see if there's a useful wiring diagram regarding the starting system, might give you somewhere to look :)
 
There's no errors anywhere. I can start it but I have to hold a wife in the positive and the starter. Someone then has to turn the key.

I'm thinking a new starter motor?

Maybe new starter wiring or solenoid.. I'm not sure whether they're refurbishable on the L322 or not. I'd guess the starter is quite expensive that's all :/
 
Don't just get a new starter, it sounds ok.. i;m sure like most modern starters it will have the large positive cable and the slim solenoid switch cable, clean these first as it easiest, then consider ignition switch, inhibitor switch etc... just my humble opnion.
 
Thanks for all your posts. I got the car towed to the specialist and it decided to start 99% on the first turn of the key. Only a couple of times did it take a second try. It been working fine now the lat few days.
