hi to all,
my freelander wont rev past 3 thousand revs,at round 2 thousand it sarts to kick out smoke, starts up ok and ticks over, took the egr valve off and cleaned with carb cleaner then replaced ,before it was replaced i had ago at blocking off the manifold, this didnt work ,next step was the fuel injectors ,trip to me local diesel shop ,checked them whilst i was there ,no faults found ( didnt charge me either :D }replaced injectors with new washers, fault still there, crank case sensor replaced ,fault still there
next step was the airflow meter, brought and received new one off ebay,i had already took off sensor from my freelander whist i was waiting for new one any way new sensor came, comperd the new and the old sensor side by side there was a slight problem the new sesor had what look like a resister or diode connected a cross the two pins on the out side of the caseing ,on the old sensor this was missing ,is it posiable that the resister or diode went through me turbo ,caursing my problem with no reving and smokeing.any help will be really help full thanks

possibly maf sensor or map sensor-my money on maf sensor.
Does it run better if you get it warm and disconnect maf?

I had my MAF sensor out last year and it didn't have anything across those two points either so I don't think theres a problem there.
You've probably already done this but have you checked the air intake filter?
Could a knackered CAT cause these syptoms?
Is your turbo knackered?

ive been told it might be dirty oil ,so ima going for that next ,also i was told to add some red diesel to the oil to flush it out, hmmmm hope it works......

Have you checked the fuel timing belt ?

cant believe no one here suggested yet!

edit:its most likely that or your tubo is knackered, actually I would go with the turbo...spensive.

if you look through a cat at just the right angle you will see a little daylight yes. but if there's a big hole str8 through or a lot of day light the its fooked but either way bin it and bolt a str through pipe on :) sounds loads better n e way

yes thanks for info on the cat ,a little day light yes, took the turbo off and had it checked ,came back as good,i was told about the fuel timing by the turbo tech he said the belt might have sliped a tooth, turbo goes back on me car this week end ,then its the timeing check ,keeping me fingers grossed .the last on me list is the fuel pump ,if thats knackerd then iam afraid its the scrap yard for this freelander,,,shame .
