Wobble on acceleration

sounds like a good place to go to experiance is so valuable.

I may need them as going past Annecy with my caravan in August!

I wonder if likes of L/R don't just take injectors to these sort of guys, and add on horrendous mark up - can't see them owning that sort of test-gear etc.

Well ofc they do. To be a mainstealer you need hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of special land rover specific tools. Its alot cheaper to subcontract out to other specialist companies who have all the bosch and siemens etc specialist tools, than buy them yourselve and rarely use them.

Ok I spoke with City Electro Diesel in Swansea today and their guy seemed to talk sense. It's £15 to test refunded if reconditioning needed - £105 each for recon. I described fault and what I had done and he said while Leakback tests give some indication it would not necessarily show up an injector that was causing my problem. He seems to think I have one injector that is down for part of the fuel delivery range - low RPM - it was a bit more detailed than that.

Anyhow I was impressed he didn't just shake his head etc so I am getting the injectors out over the weekend and taking them up on Monday so watch this space!

Could have almost financed a return trip on those prices ! Don't know why things get so expensive out here, but there we go. You should have seen the Swiss quote!

I'm sure you'll find it money well spent - post-operative. Get flow rate and leak back at various pressure settings on all 4 injectors. But they'll know all that. Be very interested to see results. Will post my printout on Monday.

Well do far so good - all injectors tested - 3 good ones - one, a second hand one, is the wrong part number even though perfect fit and so not delivering as it should. I have a spare old one so taking it down tomorrow for a recon on it.

Well impressed with the honesty and advice do far from City Electro Diesel on Swansea - they could have sold me 4 recons but didn't I appreciate honest companies.

Actually it's not - number three is the odd one. It seems that leakback is not the bee all and end all and number two is not too far out. Numbers 1,2 and 4 tested good and I showed the guy the photo before he started.

I know what you are saying but will see how it goes as I will have a relationship with these guys now and can always go back. The key objective is to get rid of the flutter at acceleration.

I will pick it up with them tomorrow though just in case. Thanks

hope this is it sorted for you angeloc. would be nice to see you typing ALL SORTED NOW after all the hard work you have put in. Loads of good info on this thread thanks.

Well I will fit the injectors back tomorrow (Weds) afternoon but as an update - 3 tested good - the fourth was the wrong type so I used another duff one I had as a swop for a fully reconditioned one and then had the wrong type one tested - guess what not only was it wrong but it was not delivering at pre injection - so no fuel going in until revs were up.

This is looking good for a cute to my fluffing - I now have a full set of checked and passed good injectors do if everyone could cross their fingers for me tomorrow 👍

Update

Injectors in all good. So far it all seems ok - a tiny flutter to start but it is getting better. Sounds smoother and has more power so I hope it is just the ECU on a learning curve! It is huge amounts better though and most wouldn't notice anything.

So my recommendation is get the injectors tested as set and recondition any out of spec. Forget buying second hand from eBay it's false economy in injectors - they are cheap enough to recon.

Ensure they are a Delphi/ Bosch centre.

I spike to soon - took it for a run today and once it got hot my miss came back - I am now really struggling to work out what it is. I refitted the Synergy which just makes it worse if turned up to high.

It could be the injector harness or even the ECU I suppose.

Looks like I will either get shot of it or bite the bullet and get a diagnostic at the stealer - neither of which I want to do.

LOVE the accent :)

Ha ha - its the frustration. To be honest I have done so much to it I am loathe to sell it but I am at that point now. I am driving to Birmingham tomorrow and will have to switch off the synergy (the new Ron upgraded one) - I keep thinking Injector harness because that is about all that has been disturbed.

It's odd because when cold its hardly noticeable but when hot in it comes - I could start fiddling with the throttle position sensor if I can find it! Grrrr boyo!

plenty of decent indies around brum....

There is a guy locally I found last week who has a small single garage who used to be with BMW - he remaps BMWs so may give him a shout. Also there is an indie near enough - I don't know them but worth a chat - also I will pop back to the guys in City Electro to make sure the Injector test was ok.

if he does re-maps he should know about reading the live data and be able to pick up over/under fuelling through the rev range. it may even be worth looking into getting him to map out the issue and then sell on the synergy, either way its got to be more cost effective than 'gettin rid' after all the time and effort you've spent in trying to pinpoint your flutter....
