HI guys,

just looking for some advice, i majorly need to re wire my dash board as its a complete mess, so lookign at buying the cable in bulk and obviously dont want to spend millions. So just looking at prices and it would appear thin wall wiring is ALOT cheaper than standard pvc. So what can i get away with? I will be wiring the following;

two HID lights
MIGHT rewire the roof lights (55w)
Fan
LED Beacon
LED work lights
CB Radio
Snd Radio

IF you can reccomend it would be great

thanks alot guys

Edd

Go to an electrical wholesalers and buy some 2.5 singles. Cheaper than auto stuff but still the same rating. Over rated even for some of the stuff but easier than buying differing cables sizes.

speak to MHM on ere, he can get you cables/connectors etc etc. Its his gig. :D

But your gonna need to know what everything pulls amps wise so you can make sure the combined load on your main feed can handle the current.

IE - if you run it all together and pull say 30 amp and uve only done the battery to board feed in say 20amp then your gonna have some over heating issues if you run it all together.

Definitely fuse everything individually, even if the appliance is fused internally and solder and heat shrink all your connections.

And for good sakes dont use scotch blocks.

good luck.

Thanks ginga thats brilliant of you, but yeh ive already thought about the board thing, im goign for a LED fuse board with a common feed which i will put a nice thick battery cable too to make sure it can handle it. With regards to the cabling i will give him a shout. nice one bud thanks!

Either but thinwall is much easier to work with. Remember the fuse must be the weak link not the cable so if your`re not sure just get the highest amp you can. 30 will cover all of what you are doing.

You tell me :) May have better heat insulation but for what you`re doing go thin wall. I use it all the time and far better stuff

chafe resistance.
thicker wall, more to rub through, but seeing as the risk is minimal behind the dash, no practical reason whatsoever.

Would anyone be able to advise what cable to run to
http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/fuses/photo/FHAL106.jpg but the 10 port one? for the products im wiring into it? Obviously if i have to use a thick battery cable then i will leave it blose to the battery but if i could use something smaller i would be able to run it up to behind my dash where i could then keep the amount of wires to a minimum...

Add up the total Amps that will be pulling if everything you have connected is switched on the get a cable to suit. Cheapest option will be to go and buy an Amplifier Wirng Kit and use the Power Cable from that. Will get a cheap one for 10-15 £

Righto - i will still want to put it through the fuse board obviously, so will go fuse board to relay. in which case ill just add it at 30 amps
will post up my workings on here mate so you can check it for me because im often prone to dicking it up haha if thats all ok mate?

Battery-Fuse-Relay, thats high current sorted, 1Amp fuse-Switch-Relay,(Ign feed ideally saves flat battery) low current sorted. :)
