Hey guys, im new to forums and not sure of the lay-out yet so I appologise if this is posted in the wrong place.

I have a cool Defender Nintey '87, and I am looking for a couple of wiring diagrams if anyone can help.

The first is to wire two 55w spots on the rear, using a relay, a on/off/on carling switch, (i think that its a four pin one) and I have a small fuse box that holds 4 fuses that will be wired to the battery for power, the reverse lights will be going through one of the 'on' positions on the switch, so the spots will come on when reverse is engaged, or on all the time or off all the time.

The second diagram is for two 55w spots on the front, I have a second relay for this, I have a carling on/off switch for this as I have no need for them coming on in tandem with the headlights as its a 35w HID conversion kit on it, this will also use the small fuse box.

I will be wiring a carling momentry on/momentry off switch to the winch (9500llb Warrior Samurai) and this will use the third fuse and will leave a fourth empty as a spare.

I have printed off a diagram which more or less gives me the rough idea how to wire it up but this diagram does not show me how to wire in the two different switches.

If anyone can help me on this matter it would be grately apriciated, thank you very much. :)

Every day there are 1 post wonders on this forum who sign up, ask a question and then never reply to say thank you or even sign in ever again.

I'm sure you will get the help you need on here, but first head over to the introduce yourself section and say hello, tell us a bit about your defender and so on.. Then ask your questions away (mostly) abuse free! :D

:welcome:

Yeh, will do. Introduce myself it is then cartoonhead. Working Nightshift for the next week so will try to wake up long enough to tell you a little about myself and the wagon in the correct section which i've now found, thanks to the bearded one. Ill find my way round here eventually!!

on another note, your not the only isle of lewis inmate we have on here, there is a couple ive seen. you guys need to talk to each other i think. :)

One is doing a full resto.

Oh aye, cool. Ill see if I can find them. If you happen to come across them again drop me their name and ill look them up. I know one lad who has done his Defender 110 pickup into a camper van. It looks amazing. Was a pile of rust when he started and now looks brand new, in-fact he is restoring mine as we speak. Not a full restoration every stone un-turned type of thing but still stripping back the bodywork and doing everything he needs to do to clean it up good then a fresh lick of paint. All the running gear is new- near/new and mechanically she is perfect. Got a few more toys to add then get the inside tidied up, only the wiring leaves a little to be desired but will get that sorted as well.

Yeh I know I simplified my first post way too much, Im not trying to say you guys needed it spelled out as much as I did but so often people just say somethintg like "how do I wire in spots" with no other info. So I just wanted to be clear exactly what I had and what I was wanting. So lets start on the other foot.

How do I wire in spots??

Bit of heavy wire from Fuse to relay, another bit of wire from switch to relay, finally run a bit of heavy wire from the output of the relay to your spots.

Make sure that everything that should be earthed is.

Simples! :D

Now that is just mean, or possibly I don't understand the diagram :D

He asked for a wiring diagram for spotlights, that is a very simple wiring diagram for spot lights... I can post a more complex one if he wants... but, that really is quite simple :D

I meant the indicators coming on with the spotlight :D:D:D

Or have I got it wrong

Sue,

The 'indicator' light is just there to let you know that the lights are on.

It ain't connected to the direction indicators. :D

Yeah, bad choice of words really, but, i can't be held responsible, i just nicked it from somewhere else.

Bump you are a superstar, funnily enough I had just printed out that exact diagram, it had only taken me about two hours of searching, also i've got the carling switch pin readout for all their switches courtesy of Devon 4x4 where I bought the switches. So I should be good to go. Thank you very much tho, that is the best diagram I have seen yet. Ive got a few photos of the work in progress of my spray job.....Will upload when I get a chance.
