Hi,

200tdi land rover model 90 (1987)

I know this has been covered before but im wondering where i can get a full loom?

Basically the previous owners decided it would be a great idea to firstly bodge quite a lot of wiring, and also to put 25A fuses on eveything. this has invevitably lead to lots of melted wiring covers/ poor connections. Ive done my best to tidy things up but realistically i think it needs a new loom. Im worried about the areas i cant se and what damage has been done. Im hopefully stripping the landy down soon anyway for a bit of a restoration. Would you agree a new loom is the best route?

I have found here; Autosparks, World leading supplier of classic car wiring looms

Is this the only place you can get them?, do you think a dealer would be more expesive than this? I dodnt reaslly want to go down the second hand route but they seem to be incredibly expensive for new, although im sure its justified???

Also as there is an engine conversion which loom would be best? Can you get them custom made? i.e. already married up to have an `old` 90 loom with the loom for a 200tdi, or would buying a newer i.e. 1990+
loom be the best option.

Sorry to go on,

Cheers,

i dont know of anywhere else at right price i struggled a bit a go getting front to rear loom ,i woulg go for 200 tdi loom if you can get fuse box to go with it

If yu need a standard loom then Autosparks arent a bad price - it is amazingly time consuming to make up a loom, with all the correct colours and wire sizes.

If yu need summat special, then PM me.

Cheers for the replies,

At the moment im just looking at options mainly with the intention of starting the strip down/ rebuild in a few months.

Im thinking maybe of just using a new early 200tdi defender loom i.e. 1990 as i dont think there is much difference (looking at wiring diagrams) between the main chassis looms, just the engine loom thats a bit different.

Maybe a daft question but are looms easy to make up yourself? Is it the labour to make it up that your paying for or the parts?

I can do bits of elektrikery but not loads, are there any diagrams with lengths of wire/ ampage needed and the other bits to make up your own? or is it a case of using wiring diagrams and approximating lengths/ measuring up against the old loom?

Thanks again,
