My 1995 defender wipers started to misbehave recently.
Once switched on it wouldn't switch off including the intermittent wipe. I have replaced the relay in the past and had different symptoms. Turned out to be the park switch, £8 and 15 mins normal service is now resumed.

Hi, think I've got the same problem. My defender wipers often don't switch off once been on, especially bad if been using the intermittent position. How do you replace the park switch, how get access to it? Cheers

Relay is behind the fuse box in front of your gear stick. Once the box is open a couple of screws to remove metal plate will reveal relay. My intermittent ceased with relay fault.

The park switch is behind the dash but don't panic. Literally 5-6 screws. Remove grab handle passenger side then just that end trim all will be revealed park switch is push fit 6 wires and clip it in place.

Hi thanks for quick reply. Now I've got a real stupid question. I've bought the park switch, took off the grab handle and the trim above it, but couldn't find what kind of tool (torq, allen key etc) top use to undo the "bolts" that hold the dash on the left hand side near the door. Any ideas what you used? Mine's a 57 plate. I've got loads of tools for mending by bike, but none that seemed to fit. Thanks in advance if you can help.
