Hi guys,

I've just registered because I've encountered a problem which is pretty bad this time of year....my wipers won't work.:(

I stupidly cleared a screenful of snow with the wipers yesterday morning, which they managed grudgingly, but have since stopped working altogether. The fuse had blown, but it keeps blowing fuses.

I don't know if this is a tell tale sign but it blows the fuse before I even try to turn on the wipers. It blows the second I twist the key in the ignition. Does this sound like a wiring issue rather than a blown motor?

If it is the wiring, where would be a good place to start? Where does the wiring go? How feasible is finding a short in the wiring?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as the car is pretty much unusable without wipers.

PS - It's a 98 Freelander XEDi. There doesn't appear to be any other electrical problems besides this.

Thanks in advance,
Sam

why do peeps do this?

wipers arent designed to clear snow or work when frozen to the screen!

always ensure wipers are turned of before leaving the car at night and ensure wiper blades will lift off the screen before driving in the morning.

So far I have sent 15 peeps to the manufacturer with smashed up wiper mechanisms - IT AINT CHEAP!

FFS how long has the OP been driving? A 99p squeegee to clear the windscreen and a few minutes would have saved all this from happening:doh::doh::doh:

Take the wiper motor apart and check the contacts in its internal park switch. You might find something amiss that can be fixed, but I doubt you will be that lucky.
