Struggleing to remove wiper boxes 2003 td5.
Pics of progress so far.
Update. Job done!
More pics. Advice - I will not be using Brit Parts again. I ordered from a different supplier but when they arrived they were in Brit Parts boxes. My train of thought was, how bad can they be as the genuine originals have failed after 11 years. That was my second mistake. My first was thinking this would be an easy job. It is not! Especially when the new parts fail...
Basically for my 2003 it is the whole dash, radio, instument panel, steering nauance, thats spelt incorrectly, it's the plastic covers top and bottom around the steering column and steering column brace out. Also there are two brackets that strengthen the steel sheet that gets in the way of the wheel boxes when you try to remove them. This has to be pulled back to allow enough room to remove the wheel boxes. This for me was the hardest part. The screws there as stiff as you like, very large phillips head, using a stubby screw driver.the one nearest the centre came out but the one nearest the steering wheel didn't but I manged to loosen it enough to allow it to twist away which then allowed the steel strip to move backwards which in turn allowed the wheel boxes to be removed.
I found to cost that one of the new boxes was faulty, captured stud came loose and just spun. I removed it and pinned it with a rivet I made from a nail. That fixed it.
All back together now. You don't have to remove the steering wheel. I have limited tools, mainly pound shop quality!! but very lucky with the weather. Both doors need to be open so I wouldn't recommend doing this in wet weather unless you have access to a garage.

Tried busters but I can not get mine off the rack. Bashed with hammer etc but they will not come off rack. Tried pulling rack out but will not budge.

Well, the other thing you can do is just pull the rack out lengthways, rather than try to lever it out of the groove in the wheelboxes.

Remove the operating core from the cam inside the wiper motor gearbox, and then the whole lot should pull out quite easily!

Remember that you don't need to take the sleeves out to work on the spindles, only the core.
