Can somebody help please!
I would like to convert my P38 windscreen washers to work on the arms instead. Any ideas, if it possible to buy a conversion kit for this? Just because the washer fluid screwing up the bonnet paintwork.

I don't think there is such a thing but it would be very easy to do with a bit of black tubing ... (Scrapper fer that any old ford will do, just take a coat with deep pockets & you can hide it in there as you walk out!!) Connect the "New" tubing to the old stuff ( Connectors from yer local Aquarium shop) BEFORE you fit melt the end closed & melt several little holes down one side (The length of yer wiper blade) a few small black cable ties to attach it to the blade & Yer done ................SIMPLE!!!

I'd change your washer additive first, if it's damaging the paintwork! Some pepes add anti-freeze to their mix over winter not realising that it's no good for paint.

Personally I use a normal winter grade wash additive, but find that on it's own it doesn't get road grime off very well, so add a good squirt of very cheap washing-up liquid. It has to be the cheap thin stuff, as the thicker ones don't mix in, sitting at the bottom of the tank and clogging the pump.

Thanks for your ideas. I have been using Halfords winter windsreen washer at the time...
I have found these on the E-bay, but this are attached to the blade and not the arm. Also not sure about the blade quality. I do not want to buy rubbish and they not answering my questions about it..Years ago I have purchased an aftermarket kit for this conversion, but I can not find it now.

The pic doesn't ready give any idea of how the system actually goes together?? Reckon you could get the same effect with some tubing to extend the original stuff onto the wipers then use those Hozelock micro irrigation jets, the 180 degree ones should give good coverage.

I wouldn't be doing that!! I have a vague recollection that washing up liquid contains various salts that will promote corrosion. Usually you don't see it because the corrosion forms where the water drips down into seams and crevices that generally stay wet for longer.

I aint heard of it either .. in 40 years of drivin when the washer bottle is empty its an "Under the Kitchen Sink raid" fer the Fairy liquid.

If the wifes "hands that do dishes can feel soft as your face using mild green fairy liquid"

I can't see it doin much damage to 2 tons of Flyin P38 Metal!!!

Now "Road Salt/grit" ..... THAT i CAN understand!!!!

The original jets will remain in place.
The wipers on E-bay include the washer jets, only problem I have, that you need to change them each time with the blades. And the seller still did not responde to my question....Will leave it. do not like shabby service.
I want to do a professional looking job, so no scrapyard.
Any other ideas Gents?
 
i have been looking into it, and as Andras say's almost all modern HGV's have them fitted, suggest a trip to your local HGV dealer, any should do, Volvo or Scania etc and tell them what you want. have a look at some in a car park, you will see thay look like they should fit, its a job on my list, if i get some i will let you know.

Yes but this is a Range Rover not a Scania. They are made like that and work just fine as they are. Get some better wash fluid and leave well alone. Unless your a mod freak that is, then feel free to ruin a perfectly good set up. First thing you will lose of course is the heated jets. But feel free to dabble.
 
If it would be a "perfectly good set up" I would not be thinking about changing it. And I do not want a bodge up job either, believe me...
What do you mean about heated jets? Am I missing something here...
My car do not have heated jets...Unless you mean the engine heat. But it is possible to buy washer fluid heater for this purpose. Than on a cold winter day, may crack your screen, if your not lucky. Perhaps not in England, due to the mild winters.
So anyway, I shall follow the idea of Overlander and will have a look round.
 
I think peugeot or citreons use jets on the blades type system - find your self a scrap yard and have a look see if they are adaptable. I think it would be no more than some simple plastic tubing to plumb them in.
 
Have you got a chipped V8?
Anyway, thanks for the suggestion. I have purchased a kit in the past, to do this conversion, but I can not find any now. I just want it to look decent.

No just 2.5 DSE chipped, but before i bought it. With working heated screen wash jets and the correct wash fluid. Looks pretty decent as it is thanks, without bits of spurious rubber hose where it should not be and two redundant holes in bonnet.
Suggest you look at off roading sites if you really want to change it.
