Took my windscreen out a fair while ago, so when I've come to fit the new seal and glass, I have no idea of the orientation!

I know I have seen a video online somewhere showing what way to use it, but I cant find it anywhere now!
I also have my landy mags which have 'windscreen fitting' guide which I kept looked out just for this job, but only now notice that it doesn't actually show that level of detail.

I've taken some pics of the different slots in the seal - any help for what slot goes on the glass, inside and outside the cab?

Any help appreciated

Thanks for the replies.

If you have photos, that would be a great help! I gather the flappy bit (third photo) is a weather seal....for outside?

The top wide slot for the windscreen - would that be the first photo I posted or the second?

Can't tell which is the widest of your photos ;)
1 will only fit the screen
1 will only fit the frame
Test fit onto frame
Hope the photo helps

haha, yeh, not the easiest thing to photograph either!

Is your photo taken inside or outside the car?

I'll try fit it tonight and see how I get on!

So this really isn't going to plan.

First off, the seal seems to be massive compared to the glass, so it won't stay on the glass prior to fitting!

Secondly, I'm still not sure if I am putting it on the right way. There is a big gap between two curved edges (my first photo in the original post above) - I'm putting the glass in this gap. I am then guessing what slot goes towards the inside over the frame as I have two slots.... See this pic below.

Second pic below you can see the green rope I've put in to the pull the inner seal over the frame.

If this is right so far, why is there another slot at the front? I know I need to pull the 'lip' over the frame outside the car once installed, but not too sure where this slot goes....

Any help appreciated!

Honestly this is quite the ball ache of a job. See if your local auto glaziers will do it for cash.

I broke 2 screens on mine before I gave up and got the pros to do it, and I am not ham fisted. Both screen broke on the last 10% of the rubber - it’s just so tight.

Aw no, don't say that! I realised I was putting the seal on a little bit wrong on the actual glass. Once I got it on it was much easier going. Bit now I'm at the...."last 10%" at the top and have loads of excess seal!

I was considering cutting it as I think it would go in a treat then. A bit of sealant at the join?

I didn't have any problems with excess seal when I replaced mine but the previous person to fit the windscreen clearly had as the seal had been cut. This did not cause any problems for the years that is was fited and was joined back together with superglue and silicone. It was not until I came to replace the windscreen I realised the seal should be one piece.

Thanks folks.
Called a couple places today but nobody seems to want a wee cash job - supply and fit only!
I'll get the fairy out and see what I can do tonight, but not sure how easy it will be to slide the seal around to spread out the excess....

It may be worth removing and starting again once everything is liberally lubed up. It should all slide in easily once covered in something slippery (I stuck the seal to the windscreen using Vaseline and then used Fairy on the frame). But this way you will be able to rectify any stretch as you go before it gets too bad

So a fresh head and some Fairy and the job was done!

But then, putting on my new, freshly painted window brackets...... ARG! I didn't even get them tight and this happened. It was the supplied bolts too.

Yup! I was just nipping them up and as the bracket came into contact with the bulkhead it broke through! Not exactly a cheap replacement. Not impressed

Had the same with a Shitpart®️ rear seatbelt tensioner, tightened the bolt up only to climb outside and realise the bolt was now protruding through the pillar. Fooking mongs hadn’t put a spacer on the new part, which I, of course, didn’t realise until the damage was done.

If that was the case surely you have some recourse with the supplier for a replacement for either supplying the wrong parts or parts missing as @bluedog333 experienced?
