Has anyone here had experience with getting their windscreens replaced via their insurance policy.I ask cause I need mine doing now and I know the windscreen rubber itself is well past its sell by date, it is sealed with silicone as it is perished in several places ( well just about everywhere ) well what do you expect for a 24 year old motor. Will the repair company supply a new rubber I suppose they should do as its needed to do the job.?

I asked the same question to my insurer and they said they do not supply the rubber. I find it a bit odd as the rubber is what holds the screen in!.
If yo get any joy let me know.

Ah i was led to believe the d1 did not have a bonded screen at least not the 200,s. Ive seen several posts on how to fit them on here and involved string and washing up liquid ?

The original D1s (200) used a rubber glazed screen which was the same as a Range Rover Classic screen but with a printed band on the lower section to hide the dashboard. The rubbers often need to be replaced but will not normally be covered by the insurer as this is considered as 'betterment'. You should be able to ask for a new rubber to be fitted whilst the screen is replaced but will have to pay for the cost of the rubber.
Later versions of the D1 (probably 300s) used a direct glazed screen with four separate trims that invariably need to be renewed during a windscreen replacement as they are usually damaged whilst the old screen is removed. Insurers normally cover the cost of the trims as they are necessary to carry out the replacement.

Had mine replaced , through ins, by Autoglass. They did **** job !!! Replaced all trim rubber etc !!! Treated rust spot!! Thought excellent until realised they'd put bonnet back wrong and water ****ed in due to them not sealing properly. Got local indy screen guy to sort out properly.
You live n learn !!!
