Hello everyone. I am thinking about grilling the front windscreen and side windows of my defender 110. Does anyone know the law governing such modifications? I have contacted IVS enquiries but didn't get much of a helpful reply. If anyone has any legal documentation or knows where it can be found that'd be very useful.

hello
where are you
and why would you.

pretty sure a windscreen grill isn't allowed for pretty obvious reasons, it kinda restricts vision, so probably likewise for the front side windows.

IVS enquiries?? who be they then, google doesn't bring em up for me...

now scamper along and introduce yerself in the imaginatively entitled introduce yourself section before the grumpys get here.

Why would you need it?

If its for off road only use, to protect your windows from getting scratched or smashed then you can do whatever you want really. But for road use, Im not quite sure really, bit of an odd one.

Perhaps instead of a fixed one, how about a flip up/down one like you see on police riot wagons? Or maybe one that can be bolted on and removed when necessary?

errrrr....like this?!

I really want to ignore this thread, but I also REALLY want to know why you want to do this?!

bit of advice, get over to the intro section and say hello, then come back here and add some more information - maybe location as well as I'm sure the law differs on this country to country!

side windows not really a problem , depending on size of mesh ( does it affect amount of light transmission) ? Front screen for road use not a good idea as it greatly obstructs visibility ( from personal experience) , and would soon attract attention you would not want !
