Passenger window on my discovery keeps dropping on its own, motor works just doesn't move it, are they relatively easy to fix

yes
get yoself a new scissor mechanism.

be forewarned, there are a couple of different types - and they arent interchangeable.....

well... they are, but need knew holes drilling ;)

Sounds like the gear off the motors worn down,or broken. can get used or new assembly pretty easily, never done the job but believe it requires some pot rivets drilling out, swop over part then re rivet in. PS im breaking a disco if u need the regulator/ motor ;)

Is there no way of me cowboying it lol, want have time to get another for a week or so, was wondering if I cud just take the door card out and give it a quick fix

Go to a scrappy..take yours off first, simple job, door card off and IIRC 4 bolts, chock the window up with something.

There are 2 types for the early disco...how do i know this? Well i bought the wrong one..which is why i suggest taking yours out for comparison. Cost me £2.

yes - get one of those rubbery door wedges and stick it down on the inside of the window. Useful for keeping the window up when changing the mechanism too :).

Although it might be the motor, its usually the ****ty plastic wheels that run in the guides (yu will see when yu take the door card off) that fail.
