window channel has been eaten by the rust faries

ive got the new channel but how do they fit ? does the window glass need to come out ? as there is little or no chance of getting it in ? or so it seems any ideas ?

you will need to take the glass out, soap up the glazing rubber strip and bang it on, rubber mallet would be best. make sure you put it in the correct place and right way round.

never use silicone on vehicle bodywork/metal parts. it will rot the hell out of the metal !
if you are going to go down the sticking it method always use a panel adhesive or seam sealer as this is made for auto bodywork and will not rot the metal like ordinary silicone will.

It aint the sillycum, per se, its the acetic acid which is in with it. Agree wiv viv-nappy tho - seam sealant is much betterer - polyethelene.

I wouldn't worry too much about using silicone in this particular application. I did my two front windows 10 years ago, still going strong, never had a problem.
To date they have lasted twice as long as LR did them in the first place.

window all done and dusted fingers crossed it will be ok finally got round to removing the very attractive silver tape that was put as a short term repair two weeks ago

you cant rush a good job:5bcheers2:
