ye'll need a ground anchor to start wi'...
i have looked at ground anchors. the only problem is my very tight budget. so really hoping for ways around not having a winch

A shovel or two and some sand (bridging)ladders would be more use to yer
dunt bother with a winch get yerself a good Hi-lift jack and the above shovel stuff

Thats true. you could make an anchor from scrap.. its pretty easy... an a tirfor winch is all ye need then...

dunt forget a board to put under the hi lift.. else itll sink in't sand

6 off and tyre levers,spare tubes and if yer really feelin flush get an adapter that bolts to the hi-lift to break the beads.

i was serious, believe it or not, about the tracks.. i have driven a ser 2 which was converted with tracks at each corner, off road in scotland. truly awesome... travelled over pete bogs etc with no problem whatsoever.....
