Hello Landy Zone!
This is my first post. I am a highly hopeful future Land Rover Series IIA 109 owner.

I’ve even found one for sale. Trouble is, it is halfway across the country from me. Also, I have never even sat in, let alone drive, a Series Land Rover. On top of that, I am 6’-7” tall and fear that I will never fit behind the wheel.

Is there anyone here in the Phoenix area that would be kind enough to let me sit behind the wheel of their Series? Being an empiricist, direct experience is vital for me.

Many greetings from the Sonoran desert

Sorry!
I just realized this is a UK forum.
Apologies for my oversight.

I’m 6’6 and happily drive my 109. But I am a beanpole. Brick sh1thouses might struggle more

You're still welcome! So long as we get pics of your landy!!
I think you need to sit in it, or at least another long wheel base, to see how you get on with the position and space
Agreed @kermit_rr
Trouble is I’m not having any luck finding any local Series.

Just joined a US Land Rover forum. Hopefully, I’ll find one.

Thanks for your comment!

Thanks @TS2304 ! ! !

I’m 220 lbs., bit of a belly.
Do you have to crouch to see through the windscreen?
I’d say slouch rather than crouch but then my posture’s terrible anyway! For me i don’t need to sit anything other than how I would normally. Just have the seat as far back as the runners allow and on long journeys you do need to stretch your legs. But then I do in the my ‘normal’ car too.
I know others can struggle tho with the seating position tho so worth a test if you can get one. Or if you’ve ever driven a bus the position is pretty similar.
Good luck and remember what you lose in comfort you gain in enjoyment (assuming you like fixing stuff all the time…)

These issues usually depend on how much you want to.
You could never just live with a series. You have to want to. They are cramped for everyone and width is usually as big an issue as length. More room in a 109 than an 88 and because your high up, looking down through the ‘windshield’ is less challenging than a normal ‘veehicule’.

👍
