cheers for the advice, landy is comming on ok since christmas plenty of rust holes appering, got it turning on the key now (was a faulty solonoid and crap wiring)no spark but coil is faulty so waiting for parts.

Landy seems to lean to one side quite alot so thinking replace shocks and hopefully will sort it?

The winch was pulling the front of the chassis apart so that has to come off for welding and make a new fixing plate, having an issue with releasing the drum as the handle is snapped off any ideas?
My only idea was to get one welded on once mot'd and drivable but would be good to get it workeing while in bits have soaked in wd and rust release but still dosent move?
Anyone got one of these that know how thay work?

cheers oli

No idea about the winch but the lean will be the springs - there's always some lean on a landy. Try soaking the springs in oil/petrol mix and then give them a good hammering to loosen the leafs - you can dismantle, clean and reassemble if you're brave. Also, slacken off the shackle and spring bolts and reset the spring to chassis distances - you might have perished or "wound up" bushes. They're a sod to replace. Worse case scenario would be a new set of springs, see the many threads on here about this!

where abbouts in the world are you matey if your close enough i could sort that wench out my way ( by methodicaly stripping it down on one bench and rebuilding it simultaneousley on the other fully reconditioning it as i go along fabricating worn out bits as i go along but hey thats just the way ive been tought :D:D:D

cheers for the offer but down in somerset would be great otherwise, cheers oli

if its a lecci winch take the motor off and soak the cnut in a big drum of diesel for a week see if that frees it up enough to get it moveing

The release mechanism on these hydraulic winches does seize up, mine does (I still have the handle attached and it doesn't help) but you can still use the winch fine, you just have to pay it out under power rather then free spool it. All I can suggest you do is soak it in diesel/oil or something, but even if it frees off it's not a lot of use without the handle.

yeah im just using it on the controls now no handle, the original owner said he never had a handle but was never an issue, cheers for advise
