mine did the same on Sunday, it was the soliniod wire and the live from vehicle battery to the split charge relay had rubbed through there insulation and were shorting when using the winch remote it knackered the relay and winch wouldnt work because the winch battery couldnt charge

warn 8274 albright solenoid
the 827a is one of the most robust and favoured winch by people in competition

the 8274 on my rr has the giglepin gearbox conversion
and is almost bomb proof

you must have a dodgy connection or worst case scenario is the motors fooked

on my last xd9000i warn winch it just started clicking from the solenoid,so i replaced the solenoid, still the same, removed and cleaned all the earths and connections still the same in the end it turned out the motor was gone and i replaced it job done

probably a dirty contact in the high power circuit.... bit like a corroded starter motor earth

it did sound a little worse than usual but i thought it was just me being paranoid al check all the connections again tomorrow if not it looks like a new motor sounds better than a rebuild :D thanks to every one for your advice much appreciated
