winch probelms

winch on my 90 has never worked , but never had to use
the cable wont pull out and the clutch lever wont move in to any position
when you pull the trigger on the winch control there is just a click , thought it could be solenoid but as the cable/clutch seems jammed would like some advice before i strip down

bit more info on the type of winch and how you have it connected might help

The manufacturer of the winch is "winch " its a 12000lb one , i have the instruction manual but no details for address of supplier etc wiring is direct to battery with isolator 5.5hp /4kw

if its just clicking its definately the solenoid pack..
my warn winch did this and when i put an albrite solenoid pack on it it worked fine.
i certainly wouldnt strip it down untill ive tried a different solenoid pack

Am I right in saying that your winch is one of the cheapo ones off ebay? Am I also right in saying that the cable is hooked onto a recovery point and pulled tight against the fairlead?

If so, try using a long bar to pry the cable and relieve the tension. For some reason the cheap winches don't like spooling out when under tension.
