i have got a superwinch epi9, and im wondering how best to mount it to my series 1 land rover,
i have seen winch boxes that sit on top of the bumper but doesn't look very good.
does anyone know if a defender winch bumper fit or know of any websites that sell better winch mounting options
any mounting options needed quick
cheers serious chums lol

Welcome to the forum.

Just a thought (though not a serious one!). Agree about the looks. Have you thought about rear mounting it? Seems a shame to spoil the pretty end of a series 1.

Rear mounted winches seem to be growing in popularity & are much less obtrusive. Depends what you want to winch, but if it's yourself out of a tight spot there's a lot to be said for getting out the way you went in!

If you want to mount your winch on the front of your series 1 it may be worthwhile considering enlisting the services of a local fabricator / welder. A lot of experienced and time served people will take on a job like this as "cash in hand", they can also get hold of the materials no problem. A winch bumper isn't hard to fabricate for a fabricator / welder and the materials will be a fraction of the cost of a dealer supplied winch bumper which I'm not sure exists regarding a series 1. Don't be shy regarding small engineering shops etc. Remember, if you don't ask - you don't get !.

In support of small engineering firms / fabricators etc. Yep, agreed. I've had some excellent work done by small outfits over the years mainly for custom bikes, but some 4 wheel stuff too. You can always find someone in a grubby little workshop locally who can give advice & then turn out exactly what you want & if they can't do it, I'd bet they'll know someone who can.

You end up driving down little roads you never thought existed & finding little gems of British engineering for the price of a few phone calls.

Well worth thinking about for any one off pieces............Still think it would look better at the back though!

Regards,
Marcus.

I had a tray for the winch made up that fits behind the bumper and feeds the winch wire through the front. I'm working on mine tommorrow, I'll finally get round to photographing it (weather permitting) I'll also take the measurements. You might like it, you might not ... but at least it'll be one idea out of the way!

cheers chaps ive sent my landrover off to a local specilist to get sorted out.
