Hi

I have just changed my standard Defender bumper to a new winch bumper complete with bumper mounted swivel recovery eyes. The problem now is that there is no space on the bumper big enough to put the number plate onto, so my question is what have others done in the same situation and what is the legal position with regards to where it should be mounted? I have seen some trcks within the number plates on the inside of the windscreen, but I was not sure if this was legal?

Any suggestions are welcome!

hey ya Sj99, I have fitted my bumper today also. I didnt need a hammer tho, it went on as easy as ABC. I think the number plate will fit to the right or left of the winch right? slight angle but nothing much to be worried about?

update: I also cant mount my steering guard! its slightly to wide at the joint area. Should I grind down the wheel guard about a mm at the joint, or get another hmm. Why didnt yours fit exactly?

Hi Rudd

Unfortunately I have the additional swivel recovery eyes mounted on either side of the winch and this means that there is no way that the number plate will fit on the bumper.

With the steering guard its more like an inch or two with mone and its the main support bracket that is the problem! I am looking at a Southdown Steering guard as an alternative, what do you have?
