Just looking for a quick answer really from one of you guys who are familiar with different specs!

Basically, I've blown something in the back axle of my hi cap td5. It's deffo either diff or half shaft.

I happen to have an s reg v8 3.9 disco that I'm going to break.

Is there a slim chance that either diff or half shafts will fit the defender?

If not, I'm looking at mid week before I can get up and running again:rolleyes:

What year is your Defender?

Salisbury or rover year axle? I presume its a rover as shouldn't really have a reason to bust a Salisbury :)

Think the diff is the same, not sure about the half-shafts though

Should have a Salisbury in the back so then going by the year

If you look under the back of it, is the diff pan all one piece with the axle or can it be unbolted?

If its a Salisbury, your kinda stuck really and will need to find a Defender with a Salisbury rear axle for parts.

I'm pretty sure it has a pan on the back with a ring of bolts:confused:

Are the bits difficult to get for Salisbury?

I've tried looking on lrseries but the search system on there is hard work sometimes!

I'm trying to look at the quickest way of getting running again as its my work truck. I'm not saying money is no object, but it will cost money while its laid up.

remove hub caps and check drive member and shaft splines ,they comonly go and at £10 for member and £20 a shaft not expensive

Cheers for the pointers fellas, got a couple of things to look into now.

Will get back with findings, cheers. Pete.
