hi guys some quick advice if you can .the car has been great all day been 40mile round trip had the tracking done got home been in the house about an hour then went round to my mothers who was flooded out so parked up away from the water half on footpath and half on the road .vehicle has not been wading or puddle jumping .sorted out my mam a couple of hours got back to the car selanoid just clicks and will not start .had my series 2a and tryed to jump it off but its still not having it i dont beleive its a flat battery any ideas as what it could be .also what fuse do you pull or put in so i can tow it home its a 2,5 td auto r reg

The fuse requires the engine running as it engages neutral. If you can't get the engine running you have to disconnect the prop shafts.

i just cant get me head round it no sign of anything untoward just parked it up left it a couple of hours then wont start now . then to add a bit more embarassment to the situation my brother towed me the 200yards with his mitsubishi l200 to my mothers think it going to be the auto lec in the morning if i cant find out what i can on here tonight .thing is no messages on the dash so i a bit stumped

There is an easy test to see if your start is working correctly.

You will need:
Spare battery (or poach it from your RR)
Jump leads

1,Disconnect your battery.
2,Disconnect the starter as thought you're going to remove it (optionally you can remove it).
3, Attach jump leads to battery.
4, Place the earth on the body of the starter.
5, Place live on one of the posts on the starter. You'll either activate for forwards and back motion or spin up the start.
6, Place live on other post.

If one of those posts doesn't cause a reaction from the starter, the starter is gone. If the starter is fine you need to consider if it was correctly bolted up, plus check the leads have good strong connectors. I've come across a few where they had rusted away causing problems.

ok thanks will be having a good look at it in the morning havent had to much time tonight with helping out at my mums due to her being flooded out
