Will my footwell lights upset my BECOM

Being as we’re all in lockdown I’ve taken my P38 off the road for a few weeks to make some basic improvements and repairs..... and I think it’s looking all the better for it.

One thing I’ve done is fitted some footwell lamps that my car never had fitted. No loom in the car for them and I didn’t get one from the breaker either. All I’ve done is “piggy backed” the two lights by soldering the wires together and then connecting them to the bulb holder on the courtesy light in the roof lining.

Now when I press the button to turn the courtesy light on I can hear the BECOM “click” under the drivers seat.

Do you think this is going to do any long term damage? Does anyone have a better suggestion to get power to the lights without the correct loom?

keep healthy all.

Put LED bulbs in the footwell lights to reduce the load or do as Wammers said and look at RAVE for the correct wiring.

Plus 1. I have LED in my courtesy lights and think they're much better. Draw about a tenth of the current.

I've got an LED strip right across the tailgate piggy backed off the tailgate light too.

Nice one, I’ll order some led bulbs and see what happens. Might change the bulbs in the courtesy lights to compensate for the footwell lights too...... best be kind to the old girl.....;)

Ah, you snapped the little plastic tang off ... just like me! :)

Mine is wedged in by the wires for my LED strip coming out the side!
