will it work?

Similar problem last night when I went to remove fuel filler cap. Couldn't turn key in lock! Resorted to boiling water. I've used silicone spray on door seals and it seems to work. Its not just Landrovers my mates 2008 5 Series BMW suffers from door seals freezing as well.

I had a frozen fuel cap the other day in the garage, stuff like that always happens when you really need to be somewhere..
I couldn't get get the key in to start with let alone turn it. So I heated up the key with my lighter and that got the key in but it still would not turn a mm. I ended up getting some window de-icer sprayed in to the lock and that freed it up.

itsnot nice an greasy but it slips in nice an easy....

mr sheen polish has silicons in it i use it on my disco 2 doors

why not leave said tub of vaseline on the dash in order to alert other road users to your solution to said problem, you might even get friendly chaps knocking on your windows and saying hello when you park up ?

They may even apply a salt solution to your locks and solve the issue

I use furniture polish on my door seals when I'm using my landy in snow/ice for work. Even more so if I've just washed it to get shot of some of the salt build up.

I also keep a hand sanitiser spray in my pocket for de-icing the lock. squirt the key, insert in lock and one wiggle of the key later it is unlocked.

I use shaving foam wiped over the inside of the glass for preventing my windows from misting up which leaves my heater free to blow down on my feet and defrost em.

reet you puffs, it gets down to -30 odd here in winter and all the locals use silicooont spray so stop debating and buy some u puffs. work a treat for me for the last 3 winters.

just wipe it over the inside of the screen, leave it in situ for a couple of mins and then buff it off again.

The magic ingredient in the anti mist screen wipes you buy in places like halfrauds contain shaving foam as the magic ingredient.

and me using me old grandmas knickers to wipe me insides of me helmet...
