well after spending 10-15 minmutes trying to get in my landy this morning due tro doors been frozen shut it got me thinking of ways to stop it happening.

grease on the oil seal - abit messy especially for a daily runner and wearing "smart clothes"

some form of tape

and then thought vaseline...not too messy looks abit dodgy but would it work as it has no freezing temperature, it has combustable and melting point.

anybody done anything similar?

Probably best, you could also use wd40 but in either event really only need the lightest of smears

I've used LM2 grease on the sliding hatch on my chicken shed - bit messy for a car

I could well believe it might not especially when very cold cos int it just fishoil n water

Alcohol - anything with strong content - or even DIY rubbing alcohol for painting etc, rub a bit of that over it all and it shouldn't freeze it.

why not leave said tub of vaseline on the dash in order to alert other road users to your solution to said problem, you might even get friendly chaps knocking on your windows and saying hello when you park up ?
