hi all as the title says will a facelift td5 speedo cluster fit a pre facelift td5 2001 with all instruments working ? i understand the mileage will be wrong but are all the connections the same i have a problem with the rev counter and only one for sale at moment is a face lift speedo

yes it will fit but the mileage reading will be messed up and will start blinking . and even if you replace the old one the mileage will still be blinking ( i found this out the hard way) and i havent been able to fix it yet . i think if you try to change it to any other cluster it will not read the mileage because the ECU and cluster need to work together with the same mileage.
 
Does the ecu tell the speedo what mileage to read or would it work if I got the mileaged corrected to the car via a mileage correction service ?
 
You can stop it blinking via old nanocom, just sync the new component, it will show new parts mileage but still add it to the ecu so total mileage would be the same
 
how did you stop the speedo mileage flashing as mine is also flashing?

You can switch the flashing mileage off with a Nanocom. You can also use it to sync the mileage BUT it will register the higher mileage, whether it be the BCU or the speedo, so you can inadvertently increase the mileage of the car
