Will a 2002 defender td5 transfer box fit a 300tdi disco r380 gearbox?

Ive been searching and never really got a definitive answer,

Need to lower my road ratios some what and have got the td5 transfer box, I can use any bits I need off my 300tdi transfer box to physically join it back up, but I read somewhere the out put shaft of the td5 gearbox is different to the 300tdi so the internal gear in the td5 transfer box will have too many splines, is this true?
