Brakes on the Disco 1 300tdi are a bit wierd.

I put new disc, pads and caliper on the offside front and it pulls a little to the left on heavy braking.
The discs and pads on the nearside are rotton so it should pull the other way?

Also the brakes are fine and pull up dead straight under normal braking and are very good but press harder on the pedal and the brakes get worse not better, pedal is hard like no servo assist. Servo working fine when brakes just touched lightly and it pulls up fine.

Disc etc been on for a month or so, not got round to doin the nearside yet.

Could the servo be knackered?? the brake pedal test is ok (engine off start up etc)

Thanks:)

why would you only renew one side ,thats asking for trouble ,until all brakes are good theres no point in looking further

Agree but they should still work ok and if anything pull to the nearside.

Disabled and cant do too much in one day and have renewed the brakes one corner at a time, been a bit unwell these last few weeks so not been able to tackle it.

I did make a brake pipe for the off side and am wondering if the end is badly made or restricted.
Got new flexi pipes now and new master cylinder ready to go on and will renew the pipes on the calipers when I can get the strength to sort it.

Just worried about the servo:)

You dangerous twât!!! Didn't anyone ever tell you that you NEVER, EVER change just one side on an axle set.

I'm so glad I don't live near you.

If you don't know and accept the basics, why would anyone support you to do further work on your brakes. Put the keys away and start reading......

Yep - as above brakes should always be changed as an axel set - ie: both front or both rear at the same time! No wonder you have a brake imbalance - pulling to either side.
Remember to bed in the pads too ;)
