Why are there land rovers that cant be used in UK or EU?

Its just that whitham SV are selling a bunch of TD5 and 300tdi defenders brand new.

Is there any way of keeping them in UK?

If you were , say, to buy a 300tdi 110 thats spent its life in a quarry and is a complete wreck and then rebuild it in its entirety from a donor vehicle (such as a ROW defender), who whould be to say and who would know it wasn't the original heap?

Even if you, say, didn't somehow lose the stamp on the new chassis, you'd just get a single vehicle assessment and take on a Q plate?

Just seems a shame that you can buy a brand new 300tdi, but not use it where its built..

its not to do with the bonnent monted spare wheel bracket is it.Think thats out lawed on new motors here. Why dont yer email em and see what they sez?

its not some thing stupid like emmissions rules cos they got less filters on their exhusts or summit like that is it?Non EU sounds suspiciously like red tape

Or is it some thing do do with VAT or Tax, that they are excemnpt so have to bee exported.

I came from Malaysia about 2 years back......we do have newish 300tdi & brand new td5 110's running around....mainly used by the army and the police forces....as far as I know, the regulations on emission in Malaysia is much lower than in uk......one good example would be the EGR unit used in earlier tdi's to improve emission, but it would not be found in vehicle exported to Malaysia....

Apparently, I believed the emission setup of the td5 110 will not meet the current emission standards in force in uk....I am no mechanic, so dont mark my words...
