Why do I bother

:mad: :eek::eek::eek:Whilst driving home after work in the early hours of this morning (some 45 miles) I noticed the tell tale signs of hazard warning lights ahead. Upon approaching I noticed it to be a Defender. well being a keen enthusiast, and wanting to help fellow drivers, in my sometimes trusted Disco 1, I stopped and asked if I could help. He'd ran out of diesel so the easiest thing for me was to tow him (with passenger and 3 kids) to a garage (8 Miles away), which I did. Got there, unhooked and waited for him, then came the flat battery, so again helping out I gave him a jump start. Then to my supprise he just drove off without even a thanks or cheers mate.

Why do I bother?????:mad:
 
yeah i pulled a young (way over-ambitious) lad on a quad bike out of a mud bog once and he flinged mud at me as he sped off afterwards. but like they say, u get what you give!
 
as for looking dodgey, I did notice the lack of tax in his window, and the fact I was in uniform may of scared him a touch, his defender didnt look as nice as my Disco so I definately wasnt after that. lol

Im sure not all people are the same, I just had a bad shift at work, but felt right to stop and help the stranded stranger and his family......... and yes I'd stop and help again.

I'd imagine the guy was totally flustered having broken down with 3 kids aboard and not having tax to boot! As the other's have said "what goes around, comes around".
 
I have had the same experiance in the us, guy broken down on I90 with 4 kids no mobile (not that it would have worked) and he had lost his locking wheel nut been there for 5 hrs. we passed him at 11pm pich black dark he refused to let us help cos the system in is car was telling him the recovery people where on the way. obviously they wernt. at the next town i got the sherif to go out to him and rescue him. "not even a thankyou" or acnolagement
