I had a defender 90 but had to sell as my wife wont stop pushing kids out so got a disco as it has 7 seats , covering all future mis-haps

Holy fred resurrection, Batman! :D ;)
First post in 2 1/2 years, well done for searching! :)

I bought mine cos it was cheap, and good for towing, and I like V8s :)
Still got my 90 as well, Disco is a completely different animal!

I do miss my 90 but the longer I have the disco the more and more im loving it . I wish I could have kept the 90 but needed the money to fund the disco project , ive had it for a couple of months now and nearly at the end of the project just need to respray and finish a couple of little bits and ready for some off roading just need to find some one to go play with lol

ideal thanks very much was searching for the wrong thing , its all about the wording
My first car was a series 1 bought 2nd hand for £45 It had a major problem NO locks, NO heater, LUCKY to get 15mpg (petrol was 25p / gallon) but good fun if it snowed you dug the snow out of the car. Since I have had 5 series incl 12 seaters, (comfort CRAP) who said discos rust, nothing in comparison to series, have had them snap in half when slamming a door. Also had a Shogun - afraid to go to main dealer for parts unless visited bank for 2nd mortgage - YES they do go wrong.
Have had 2 discos, firsty one a 200tdi lasted 6 years, sold it to buy a 300tdi. Still have the 300tdi, in the 9.5 years I have had it, it has cost a tad under £4k including purchase price (tyres etc not included - first set of tyres ran for 40k) Major problem I cooked the head also renewed all the boot floor rear wheel arches and L & r hand sills Total for head replacement and rebuild interior £1.6k. far cheaper tthan purchasing someone elses lack of maintenance. All electrics work No leaks from sun roofs - again maintenance pays. Last little problem - the rad blew on our way home. In other words, very happy with my DISCO.

I'd got stuck into a charity project building a Disco-based 4x4 when the people carrier died. Figured a Disco was cheap, fixable (yeah, I know, you get practice), had seven seats and would run on anything. This one came fully loaded with off-roading gear too. I never go off-road but it felt like a bargain! So far have done boot floor, sills, one of the front arches, rear body crossmember, changed the water pump and the timing belt. I like it, most of the time.

I was on holiday towing our caravan, had a Vauxhall Omega 2.5 diesel estate ( loved that car) **** went straight across a junction on a country lane failing to give way, end of my poor Omega, whist on the caravan site saw a D1 for sale, looked it over and decided to buy it, now on my 3rd, one pretty sh*t in between (D1 everything went wrong on it) now have a D2 ( sweet, love it to bits)
