hi i have a great td5 disco 03 plate but i need to sell it but i am finding it hard to sell ,ive also noticed not a lot is selling at the moment! maybe its the credit crunch

I think there's a bit of a gulf between what sellers think stuff's worth and what buyers think they ought to be paying at the moment. It's the same with houses. At the end of the day it's a buyers market.

Let's say you advertise it for 7000 quid. Somebody comes along with say 6000 in cash. You've had it for sale for a while with no takers. Is it still worth 7 grand? On the other hand you price it at 6 grand, someone snaps your hand off straight away. It's a toughie.

I just paid £5,600 for a 2001 TD5 ES 7 seater Disco 2 87000 full service history, good condition, no rust almost new tyres (wranglers) recent service new air bags front shocks and wiring loom with 12 months MOT 6 months tax, 3 months warantee. Rekon I couldve pushed for more off but everyone has to make a living, so got £500 off and left it there. He sold the same car that was traded back in for a big petrol engine for an LPG conversion for £7,250 14 months ago.

that is a pre face lift model -the facelift model is a much better model thats why i dont get why they dont sell

What are the differences on the face lift model that make it a better model compared to the pre-facelift model. :) I prefer the look of the pre-facelift model, and the facelift model seems to have more electrical problems, if thats possible. I chose to get a preface lift model as I perceived it to be better value for money, just my opionion thought which may halp to answer your question, apart from the fact that noone is buying cars at the moment generally or anything for that matter.

Oh I almost forgot whoever bys your 2003 car will have to pay the increase road tax next year thats an extra £250 per year and possibly more the following year!!

Its not just Disco,s. ( although proposed VED rises have had an affect ).

My mate,s got a second hand car business and he,s dead on his arse !!.

I dont think that pre-face lift Disco,s are any different, pound for pound. The older a car is, usually, the cheaper it is !.

I think that pre march 2001 Disco,s will be selling quicker.

We,re going fcuking backwards !!.

It looks like a nice example but I just think buyers out there are being very careful with their money. If they are prepared to pay for the higher tax costs they expect the very top in specification and there are ES specs out there with lower miles for similar money if you look for them

whist i agrre that hes a ****er whats the fact hes scottish got to do wi motors noy selling:mad:

Me thinks that you are kidding yourself. Why else do you think that this country is one of the worst prepared for the fallout from America? Prudance my arse.

So not only is he going to go down in history as one of the worst leaders this country has ever had, (along with Blair), but also one of the worst Chancellers.
