Who's Air Filter Is It Anyway

Detectives - we're dealing with a Series 2a with a 300tdi thrown in it. Anyone know what kind of air filter would fit this housing?

Ah - I should have mentioned that there wasn't a filter in there when i opened it up

I would say that could be to small for a tdi.

That looks vaguely french ie citreon/pug/renault etc

Google shows it to be from a Lotus Elan?!

Actually if memory serves it looks like the mk1 Rover 800, which would also make sense with it being in a Lotus I guess

Maybe but I think Land Rovers are unreliable enough without taking attributes from a Lotus

Perhaps distracted by the fact that the housing had no filter in it - I also forgot to mention that there is nothing attached at the intake end. Should there be?

Housing is squeezed in here above by the wheel arch.

Agreed, quite space savvy. Jealous of the tool box though, mine are currently stuffed anywhere and everywhere. So any concerns regarding the lack of attachment on the intake? Or ok to just leave it pulling in air from there?

I cannot see it getting air from there being an issue, you will soon know when you next check the filter by how dirty it is.
