Why do TD5's have such a dislike for humans? Can someone help with a prob? 2002 Disco TD5 had a missfire @ 2800-3000rpm, changed air filt, & fuel filter, purged system, now non-start!!! Tried all sorts, found heater plugs all dead-wait 3 days for new @ 20 each! Thought prob found, fit plugs, will start.......car still hates me. Replaced injector loom, still hates me!

Thought it might just be Landies, got in '97 Disco 300tdi... starts every time(hope I haven't just hexxed that one!)

did you clean the oil out of the main engine wiring harness and the ecu when you changed the injector loom?

Could be many more reasons.....before u spend more money to randomly replace parts try to plug it in a tester

Thanks for help on that one; tried cleaning the ECU plugs which were oiled up but no change there. The battery became tired with the constant cranking, so I replaced it with the one off the Defender (proper car).....started first crank!!! Now no longer missfiring, starts without using heater plugs. Now sold & life is good; just 110 to re-chassis & life will be even gooder.
