It's a resonator box to reduce intake noise, if the noise doesn't bother you you can block it off.

Thanks I'll have a look.
If I leave it as is will it allow water into the intake or is the resonator box a sealed unit?

TC and a set of decent tyres and FL wil **** all over most "proper 4x4s" on any wet slippy hill.

Anyone wading that deep with FL needs to extend breather from rear diff otherwise will end up filled with ****e.
