Hi Guys,
Over the last few Months there has beed a slight whine from the left side at slow speed. When I press down the clutch it goes away. Took it to the mechanic today to be checked out. After the test drive he informed me that its the front Diff. That needs to be replaced at a huge cost. The clutch and prop shaft bearings have being replaced 18 months ago
Could this whining sound be coming from something else
Its a 04 freelander with 117000 miles on the clock.
Many Thanks

Front Diff! does not make any sense when you usually have a whine and you put pressure on the clutch pedal it is more times' than not the clutch thrust bearing which I hope they changed when they changed your clutch how far do you need to press the pedal before the whine stops.

Hi Guys,
Took the freelander td4 to a land rover dealer today and after a hour long check over Inc.test drive they said it was a bearing in the gear box.Mechanic told me to change the oil in the gear box and Inc a Gearbox treatment to QUIETEN THE BAD BEARING rather than rebuild the Gearbox itself.
Sounds Strange,any opinions welcome
Many Thanks.

If it's not too expensive, you can give it a try, then you know if it's the gearbox or clutch release bearing

Keep us posted, so we can learn from it!
