whining noise

Hi all

i have a whining noise some were on my freelander! and i think its the IRD

if i drop the driveshafts and VCU and the noise stops, could it be the bearings eather side of the VCU or do i need to dig deep in to my pockets

I take it you mean prop shafts and vcu?
if the noise has gone with these removed its a good bet your vcu bearings are the culprit.

if it's a whine i'd first be looking at the diff or a wheel bearing.....where do you think it sounds like the noise is coming from?

try topping up the ird oil ?

it has just had a service about 2months ago and that got a drain down and new oil

I was gonna say that but then I realised I got rid of her a couple of yrs ago....
