I am looking at getting some MT's for my 90 and I'm looking at either the Insa Dakar Mud Terrain Tyre or the Recip Trial MT Tyre.

Anyone got any opinions on either, good or bad, I'm looking for feedback on which to go for. I am favouring the Recip's but would be interested to hear what others think.

Oh yeh and before anyone says it, I don't want Insa Turbo Special Track's!!

ive had the insa's there noisy on the road and the side wall punctured on 1st time out. got hankook dynapro's MT's as quiet as road tyres and fantastic off road mine are 305/70/16

how werid is that i had/have the same set up as you now:D

i never really had a problem with my dakars were only 235 though so not that wide did get some road noice but on a defender you soon forget that:p

now got my hankooks 305/70/16 and they look the fooking nuts :D havnt treid them offroad yet hope there as good as the dakars or ill go nuts:p

So the Dakars are noisy, anyone else had problems with them puncturing?

Had a look at the hankook dynapro's MT's, but despite the MT suffix they are not a mud tyre, the MT stands for Maximum Traction, so guess they are more of an all terrain tyre???

Really looking for a good Mud Tyre, has anyone got the Recip's? If so how have you found them, done a search and there is not much about them.........

i think if you look on hankook website you'll see they are a mud tyre, i used them at briecliffe quarry on sunday and got places BFG mud equiped landys wouldn't or couldnt

all mud tyres are noisy anything with a large tread pattern will be its a fact:p i never punctured them or nowt just upgraded to some wider ones i got offered really cheap :D otherwise i would of kept the dakars :D but im pretty sure my hankooks are a mud tyre well they look pretty bad ass:D

Ive got Dakars on mine. Old Skool 7.50 x 16 . Had em about 9 months and seem to work well in the muddy stuff which is mainly RTV.I'm not convinced about the wear rate tho. One of the club boys has Special Traks, which seemed to chew up pretty quick.

ive got the recip trials on mine, very good in ruts, and climbs, not good on sideslopes though, also they are pretty quiet on the road

Id agree with that.Whilst they are sold as a mud tire they really arent aggressive enough, Id say they are gloryfied ats. However they are great on road, no noise or loss of traction or increase in mpg.Awesome in the snow too.

Yeh Someone else said that the Recips were quiet (for a MT) on the road.

What has the wear been like on them and how bad are they on the side slopes? Guess what I'm asking is would you buy them again or would you look at an alternative?

i wouldnt buy them again only because i want some BFs to run on all the time, i only use the recips for offroading as they are remoulds and wear quite quickly.

Apparently the wear issue is also a problem with the new BFG KM2 MT's, but I suppose that will keep them in business!! Hence my reason for asking about the wear on yours.
