Which type of bulb for boot light on Freelander 1 3door?

Classic Festoon Bulb - 239 - 12v 5w
This is one option. Double ended like the interior light.

@Nodge68 has a facelift version, mine is the older one, so may differ.
As @Nodge68 says, best to pull it out and check.

To be honest Mike. I've changed so many different interior bulbs over the years, they all kinda blend into one. I'll check mine later, because I can't remember when I last saw a Freelander boot light bulb fail.

Only reason I remember it as a double ended bulb, is when mine went it happended to be the same as the Ford Fusion one, which I had at the time and had a bulb pack for. Saved me a trip to the car spares shop.
Very underrated little car that. 1.4 diesel, huge boot, pulled like a train and did 60mpg.

thanks guys, it is not a double ended (solenoid) one.... the center interior light is but the one in the boot looks like a 'normal' light bulb....sadly too old so no markings on it any more though.

assume you've replaced all of urs with LEDs

done all mine and the dashboard made the most difference

did find when I done the centre console , I got the LEDs with them in the end, was very dim , so bought some more that had the LEDs spread round it and also on the end, made a lot of difference

even changing the centre light was awesome , can actually see now of a night , lol

I keep one standard bulb in the system to keep the CCU happy. I've seen some strange faults caused by over use of LEDs. Obviously dash lighting isn't CCU controlled, so should be fine. I prefer the colour of standard bulbs in the dash though.
My interior lights are some custom made LEDs.

The boot light is the standard bulb, for the reason already stated.

must admit haven't had that problem , replaced them all

did buy ones that specified they were canbus compliant, didn't get the real cheap ones

don't know if it was necessary

may I ask what kind of problems can they cause plse

wonder if they can set the alarm off randomly, as mine can sometimes go off for no reason what so ever

even replaced the unit behind the centre light but will still on occasion just go off

Can BUS has nothing to do with a light, full stop.
The so called Can BUS LEDs simply have a resistor across the LED to stop bulb blown warning showing. The Freelander doesn't have bulb monitoring, so is irrelevant. It simply makes the LED use as much power as a normal bulb, but turns the power into heat instead of light.
The CCU can get upset, so the delay goes wrong or the lights flicker. Having the resistance of your LEDs, should prevent such issues;)

the ones I got were abit more expensive , as I just thought to save me having to take things apart if I bought crap ones

was very impressed how much better the boot led was , could even see inside the boot , lol

the boot and centre LEDs had some metal fins on one side for I assume cooling , like the fins on a motorbikes cylinder head

found the original bulbs very dim in the centre console

replaced the hazard warning light , didn't realise at first it was supposed to light up of a night
