I am thinking of adding a tow bar and electrics to my current Rangey (see signature for model, year etc).

Is there a particular version of electrics specific to my model?

Cheers

Just standard plug in harness from Landrover.
Or make your own up, one connector for the main functions are behind the right hand trim in the boot, the rest are from a connector on the left hand side.
DO NOT attempt to splice into the regular light wiring.
You can get the pin outs for 12N & 12S or the new spec 13 pin wiring from Google

N and s means ones the trailers lights (brakes indicators ect..) the others for caravans carrys power for interior lights fridge ect..
Cant remember which is which but the rear lights is black and the caravan power it white or light gray
Theres also a 13pin plug that carrys both in one plug but would have to be fairly new caravan to need that (about 5years i think)

Datatek,

What does the "n" and "S" refer to?

And does the "right hand Trim" you mention refer to the "Drivers side" on a RHD?

Cheers

N refers to the normal functions required, S refers to the supplementary functions like reversing lights, 12 volts supply etc.
Right hand trim is drivers side on RHD

So,

Am I assuming correctly that the "N" is for basic towing of trailers and goes to the right side of the boot?

Cheers

Old standard was two plugs one to service trailer lamps, sides, stops, brakes Etc. And one to service accessories like charging, power Etc for a caravan. New system 13 pin socket does it all in one.

I really do suggest that you make your own up. 7 pin plugin to loom socket kit from Land rover £248.50. Split charger kit (second plug) £149.48. Where do they get their prices from? Take connections ONLY from loom plugs that way BECM does bulb checks for trailer lamps.

At that price it would be worth me making them up and selling them at half price:rolleyes::D:D:D

Really does amaze me where the get their prices from. But the 14" of brake pipe with two tube nuts at £36.00 with it's opposite hand, essentially same pipe bent the other way at £76.00 does up to now take the honours as the most ridiculous price i have yet come across. The grommet for the cam cover breather to the induction pipe maybe taking over though at £8.28 each :):)
