Cummins 4BTa, 3.9L, bullet proof, plenty of upgrades avaliable, mechanicaly controlled (no computer needed to run) has the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the older GM V8 gas and diesel engines. just my .02.

Hi!

I've retrofitted an Omega 2.5 engine to my 96' P38.

I have moved over the turbo, air-con pump, steering pump, sump incl oil pick-up, engine mounts and flywheel from the P38 engine. I've also retrofitted the wiring and re-used the ECU from the P38. I've not swapped over the injectors (incl number 4) and the diesel pump from the P38.

The new engine starts without problems in the P38. However, I have one issue:

When idling the car at about 2000 RPM there is a loud noise from the engine like banging a hammer to the cylinder head. The sound disappear after a restart. I believe the sound is coming from the area around diesel injector number 4. There is also a diesel leak from the same injector (Diesel is "boiling" around the injector). This leak were not present before I swapped the engine.

Does anyone know what causes this problem?

Thanks for any help!
