which one do i need ? (snorkel)

awesome, if i werent to feed it out past snorkel where could i feed it to ?
what took longer taking all those photos or fitting it haha !
not sure what im going to do for him yet, where abouts did you feed the 8mm pipe out through wing ? did you drill anothe rhole in wing ?

It was 6mm throughout. The pipes are all connected at the back of the bulkhead and just descretely comes out through the bonnet.

The difficult bit was the gearbox breather. It's a git to get to.
 
Must be a different kit that i got. I cant see why you'd necessarily need a wider tube. I don't think you're expecting much airflow. I thought the breathers are just there to ensure that the pressure inside the thing remains at 1atm.
 
I have run mine up the side of the snorkel, I ended up having 3 pipes there as I couldnt be arsed to get another manifold. In my disco I ran the pipes up the inside of the rear panel and then out a small hole just under the gutter rail, I then tigersealed it flush with the gutter rail, looked good but not needed really, most are just cable tied to the snorkel
 
right i think i will see what kit hes bought, i think its just bell housing and timing but iff its axels and stuff ill see about a manifold, if its only two or three ill make a whip up the inside of the snorkel, so the pipes fit ok between wing top and bonnet ?
 
Well I got back from the pub and low and behold it's arrived.

The first thing to note is that it's branded as Bearmach. I don't know if that makes it "genuine military" issue as claimed.

The snorkel looks to be well made, it's constructed entirely of a thick steel material which is covered in what appears to be a substantial nylon or PVC coating.

The instructions are clear and installation looks like it will be simple.

The only thing that looks a bit "low rent" are the 2 standard jubilee clips to connect the convoluted rubber hose. I hope they are stainless but I doubt it.

I'll take some photo's and report how the fitting went.

So far I'm happy that I didn't spend 3X as much on a lump of plastic which seems to be the only real alternative.

It should be one in each axle, one on the top of the main gearbox and one on the top of the transfer box. Then (possibly optional) one in the little triangle timing cover (front of engine). I had to take the cover off and drill a hole, as the cover was solid.

The kit I bought also supplied an extra fitting apparently for the fuel tank breather. But my 300TDI D90 didn't have a need for that. The only breather on the fuel tank is the balance pipe to the top of the filler cap. Maybe the extra part is only for a 110??

There are also two holes that need plugging underneath. One is at the bottom of the bell housing, and the other is the bottom of the timing cover. Although periodically these should be removed to drain any oil that's collected.
 
A 200tdi is on the UK passengers side, 300tdi is on the UK drivers side.
I bought a cheap Paddock snorkel which does the job but has discoloured. A friend bought a Mantec one around the same time. His still looks brand new. If I was doing it again I would go for the mantec one
 
right i agrree now, although where it says drill a 9mm hole dont, drill an 8 as 9 is too big,

i cant find the wading plug on the timing cover wheres the hole located ??
