Hi All,

After searching endless posts, etc. I'm now looking for a definitive answer to:-

Gear Box Oil?

Diff Oil?

For a 2008 Defender 110 SW Puma 2.4TDCi.

Going round in circles handbook saying Castrol BOT130M, which doesn't seem to exist and then Millers saying one, Comma saying another, etc.etc.etc.

Help much appreciated as usual.

Jonah, back behind the wheel of a Deafener!

The only reference I found to BOT130M was in a RAVENOL brand of cogbox oil. Got the details written down somewhere but not at hand at the mo. A bit more research guided me to conclude Castrol Syntrax Plus 75/90 is the transmission oil that meets all the specified requirements for diffs, gear box and transfer box. It meets both GL4 and GL5 spec. Google it and get the full spec sheet. Reasonably priced at OPIE OIL.
Hope that helps.

Thanks Wimblowdriver for info, looks like it would hit the mark and keep metal from metal!

Did a little more digging and found Millers Oils do TRX Synth 75w90 fully synthetic "maximum protection & fuel economy" and meets API 4 & 5 specs. Put my reg no. In their search thingy and search agreed suitable for the Puma Deafener. Used their local stockist search and Woods Auto Factors, Huddersfield stock it and picking up 2 x 5ltrs @ £52 a drum.
Guess who's Deafener will be getting it's gear oil changed this weekend.
