looks like about £5 is the going rate for a single bearing. Multiple bearings appear to be much cheaper than that.

I just went to shift my landy and the noise from the idler stepped up a gear so I thought it best to bung the new one on now and fit the new belt at a later date when it arrived.

The good news is that the crankshaft damper is all good.

Here's some pics of the bearing in my old idler pulley.

It "letting go" wunt the problem :D

I went out to a bmw 320 last night that the crank damper had gone on. The guy couldn't work out why he ran out of electickery and had no power steering.:rolleyes::rolleyes::D

It might be worth me doing a 'how too' for removing the viscous, changing the fan belt, tensioner pulley, idler pulley and idler pulley bearing when I get around to doing the rest of it.:scratching_chin:

Yeah good idea.

I found using one o the bolts to hold a slim spanner in place was good enough to stop the fan turning, got some piccies some where :D

A quick tap with a hammer on the end of my viscous spanner soon saw the fan spinning off.;)

I found that the new rocker gasket that I fitted when I did my injector seals last year is leaking like a sieve though.:( Wanna guess what colour packet it came in?:mad::mad:

Werent blue were it??

I just cleaned the old one with brake cleaner and reused it with black high temp silicon sealant ;) ( for anyone else reading this You do have to take care to use thin bead though so as not to block up oil ways with sealant  )

Here's the piccy

A quick tap didn't seem to loosen mine

This is obviously with the fan removed so ya can see what I did ;)

I don't want to worry you but some fecker has nicked one of yer bolts:eek::eek::eek::D

In which case it wuz either cos you is fick or the only other thing I can think of is that you were trying to get yer other spanner to lay flat across the front of the pulley without riding up the bolt or catching yer delicate flangeys.

Wow

spookily accurate on all counts :p

My flangeys are delicate :drama:

I is psychic innit.:cool::cool::cool:

You best be careful not to take yer skin off washing yer hands in that nasty roughty tuffty swarfega soap. You best use the fairy liquid instead.;):p
