Which fault code reader.

I need to catch up with the modern world now as my wifes 02 almera has an engine management light come on and i know not what the problem is. Saw a few on ebay around £20. Are these ok and which one would be good for me. Nothing too tech, just want to id and then clear code.

If you have a smart phone there are Bluetooth ones out there starting at just a few quid.

If its a petrol motor, chances are its the Cat needing regenerated or the Lambda sensor in the exhaust, in my opinion

Any old cheap code reader will do just fine, the cheapest only give the code and you have to google it, the better ones give the code and its meaning, little better gives live data ie temps and lambda sensor outputs etc and this is the info you really need otherwise its an expensive guessing game.

I have a U581 from ebay for a few years quite useful, does all the live date stuff etc
