Which Discovery 2 is best the TD5 or the V8??

Best at what???

Depends what you want it for, Fastest from 0 to 60, or fuel economy, Etc. etc.

Well the best of the 2 all round wise

well i use my Td5 as a everyday car i don't offroad it allthough i have thought about it recently i have been thinking if the v8 would be better what with petrol being cheaper than diesel and most v8's having lpg

I don't like lpg systems due to tanks taking up space and have encountered too many vehicles with lpg that have had faults that no matter how much time and money is spent on them, have still not been rectified.

Thats just my personal opinion of them. Many will also tell you how great they have been.

I prefer denzels myself.

If it's a weekend car then petrol may not be an issue for you. But as an everyday car and using it to go to work etc then I would think it has to be a Td5, there's no difference in the two vehicles in the 30 to 50mph limits in towns and in busy traffic it's only on the open road that I believe the V8 wins with it's performance and quirteness with just that distant V8 hum from the exhaust.
From a maintenance point of view a V8 is easer to service.
But what would I know for the last 21+ years my Land Rovers have been V8.

v8s are the best for every day driving I think, diesel is boring they might be the best for going through water and leaking oil and **** but they dont beat v8

according to "Parkers" a V8 does about 17 MPG and a TD5 Does about 30MPG. I think I would rather pay the extra for the diesel.:mil80:

Yes but diesel is over £1 ppl and petrol under and LPG less than 50ppl so I'm getting the equivalent of 34 to the gallon with my 3.9 V5 LPG converted ES.

V8 with LPG, Black 2004 ES preimium...very happy
The gas was fitted when i got the car,Romano N system.
PLG tank under slung, takes no room,fitted where the petrol tank would be + smaller 25 LTR petrol tank,
No probs at all with gas,very smooth,powerful,quiet. MPG = 28,
BIG smile every time i get in the car.
I think if you own a diesel you'll vote "diesel",you got Gas you'll shout "Gas"
I supose it all depends on what for sale when your buying.
Lucky for me when i was looking i found a PLG V8 for diesel money

Well, I like the TD5. Then again, I also like the V8. But which is best? There's only one way to find out.............

My B-i-L had a TD5 ES, had it chipped + bigger Intercooler, it was fabulous. Still got 30mpg, but it went like stink.

Still got 30mpg? I dream of 30mpg!

30mpg Is good, what's not good is that hike in the insurance premium for a performance modified vehicle.
