200Tdi Disco is getting a second alternator.

Alternator is on order but need to sort out the crank pulley.

Been told I need ERR2352 Crank shaft pulley with aircon. But I was also told that ERR3093 is almost an identical part at a fraction of the price of a Disco pulley for air conditioning.

Both fit the 200Tdi and both labelled as covering PAS and AirCon.

Has anyone used either or both to do the second alt install or maybe needed to get one to retrofit aircon?

Havent a clue on part numbers but have two pics of crank pulleys, 1st is disco 200 with two belt grooves and 2nd is def 200 with three belt grooves.
Might give you other avenues to search?

I was looking at them yesterday, the Defender with three is for PAS & A/C and the Disco with 2 is for A/C.
PAS was still an option in 1990 when the 200Tdi was released in in Defenders where as standard figment in Discoveries so incorporated into the fan belt design, disco runs water pump & PAS off the crank and the alternator takes drive from a double V pulley on the PAS pump.

The Defender 3 V pulley is between £25 ~ £30 where as the 2 V pulley for the Disco is £75 ~ 90.

Probably order up the 3 V pulley and see where we go......

Have a look on gwyn Lewis 4x4
He has brackets so may be able to guide you to the correct Pully.
Hope this helps

I have seen his stuff, it is very cool.

If you read the specs on the twin alt mount he can do the one stop shop and supply everything you need for the conversion.

I'm not tight but I do actually want to make this myself, not about the money but more of an engineering challenge against myself.

I had actually toyed with the idea of getting a 300Tdi crank pulley and getting the "wheel" machined off it and friction welded to a new second hand 200Tdi pulley and using the multi V belt and a sprung tensioner with it.

Probably easier to use standard parts like the crank pulley and the belt tensioner and just use a standard V belt.

I bought Crank Pulley 2.5D NA 2.5DT and 200TDI All with Pas and Air Con ERR3093 fits a 200Tdi, probably a defender but I can match the pulley easy enough.

Alternator bracket to either be made or bought, not decided yet but if I am going to fit a Magnetti Marelli A127 100 amp with the same dimensions as my existing 65 amp A127 then I can use that as my template to build the mount without needing the second alternator right in front of me.
